Award winning singer, composer and Peace & Rights Activist Farhad Darya has been the most influential musician on the Afghan Music scene since the mid 80s, and certainly is a founder of a new wave of music in Afghanistan. He is known as the most prominent voice and a revolutionary creative force behind the contemporary music of Afghanistan Not only he is loved for his great music but for many charitable acts he has done for Afghanistan. We at ASAUK believe that alongside holding many educational events, it is vitally important to have some fun once in a while! Therefore, we invite you to the biggest event of the summer break, to celebrate the Independence Day of our beloved Afghanistan. As most other Afghan Associations will be conducting the Independence Day celebrations in the 'usual' manner, we at ASAUK thought of presenting our fellow Ex-pats with something a little 'different'. The principle aim of the event is to participate in the celebrations of the Independence Day as well as promoting integration amongst the entire Afghan community, not just the youth! Please feel free to bring along your friends and family members to commemorate the sacrifices of our forefathers in a fun and family-oriented environment. The sports for the day will be: Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Talab a kan, Karramboll, Top Danda/ Rounders, Egg on spoon race and Two legged-races Light Refreshments will be provided, but please do bring your own food. ASAUK Annual General Meeting, Elections with Celebrations. The election and AGM part is not charged and will be taking place between 4:30pm to 6pm. All entry to the after election celebration will be subject to buying a ticket priced at £12. Taking the costs of the restaurant out, all the remaining money will again be donated towards the Avicenna Project (Books for Afghan Universities). Second part will include Live Music with musician Hashmat Ehsanmand and Afghan food.
