Event Manager: Ahmad Waleed Majidyar
I have always enjoyed being surrounded by young Afghans who are determined and have the capability of taking Afghanistan and specifically Afghans one step forward in terms of solidarity, collaboration, and unity all around the world.
It is a great honor for every Afghan to be involved in getting Afghans to come together and assist each other. As an event manager, I will be able to work and form a team of young Afghans with whom I will be able to share my opinions and give a hand for a good cause.
I will try to utilise and manipulate all my skills and expertise to take ASAUK to the peak of its success. I will try to engage with the young Afghans to bring most of the Afghan students together so that we would be able to solve their problems, create better understanding among them, and highlight the moto that all Afghans are brothers and sisters on every occasion. Thus, it is a dream to be engaged with ASAUK and build a strong community of Afghans in London to show the world that Afghan youths will bring peace, solidarity, stability, and unity to the country.
Unity is in the core of our holy religion, Islam. I always compare unity as a human being’s body where if one part is missing, nothing is complete. Unity is the basis for every successful accomplishment. For instance, refering to the history of our beloved country, Afghanistan, every ethnic group that has carried unity, has been successful in major challenges. On the other hand, it is the lack of unity that we Afghans are suffering the most in the world.
In order to succeed and be one step a head than our challengers, we need to be unit and think together. My vision for ASAUK is to build a team of young Afghans who are unit and work together to bring on new ideas and concepts to not only help the newly arrived Afghan students at London, but also set longterm goals on how to help Afghans all around the world.
I always regard the secret behind every successful person lies in their determination and feeling of responsibility. I never take something that I cannot complete. When I am allocated any job I try my best and feel responsible for every outcome of it. Working in a number of teams so far, I have always regarded myself responsible for any failure, whereas I have motivated and ecouraged everyone while facing any success.
I am a person with most determination and ambition to acheive as much success as I can in mylife. I give my 100% while carrying a job. Thus, I even try the impossible things to carry on with my responsibilities and bring about success in all my activities.
I am currently pursuing my MBA degree. To help Afghans in becoming unit, I will be able to fix any responsibility in my schedule.
I have good theoritical as well as practical knowledge of management. Furthermore, I have good understanding of the feelings, thoughts, and sufferings of the young Afghan students arriving freshly to the city. I have studied in Afghanistan as well as here in london, so I can feel how to come up to the expectations of the target audience and help them not only to survive but have their best experience of their life in London so that they would be able to carry something beyond expectation from the city to build their community in Afghanistan.
Web Manger: Esmat Mohib
I was in school (year 10) when ASAUK was established. At the time, my dream was to finish school and join the family business. The first couple of ASAUK events I attended encouraged me to take on further studies. I went on to college and now I’m at university. I have just completed my second year and in retrospect, I am glad that I did go to university. The impact it has had on my life and my outlook for my future has been tremendous. Now I want to give back to ASAUK and its community as a way of saying thank you, and also has a way to help inspire other Afghan youths as it did for me.
My philosophy in life is to “pass it on”. I believe that we, the youth of the Afghan diaspora, need to stick together and help each other. Civilisations only succeed in leaving a good mark on history through working together and helping each other whenever we can. Since my degree and experience is in multimedia, this is my platform for giving back and helping out. I believe I can help ASAUK take its online presence to the next level.
My knowledge and experience in web design, information systems management and social networks gives me the tools necessary to excel in ASAUK’s Web Manager position. This is where my strength is and where I can best help ASAUK and fellow members.
I know what it takes and understand my responsibilities. The biggest part of my job will be in establishing the systems ASAUK needs, i.e. an up-to-date and state of the art website, better social networking platforms and improved communications systems such as distribution lists. Once the systems are set up, I will train the rest of the committee on how to use them to better communicate with members and disseminate information. I will also inform members of what tools and platforms are available to them to get involved when it is physically not possible.
I believe through better communication systems as suggested above, the committee can better streamline its activities and keep members informed. It will also help members to share their ideas with the committee and other members in an easier and more effective manner.
