What to Expect from ASAUK Committee Members
ASAUK is a members’ association that upholds democratic values. All elected committee members are responsible to the membership. They can be held responsible. This section describes the roles for each committee member which were advertised before their nomination of themselves for each role. By being elected for the position each committee member has assumed the listed responsibilities of their role in the ASAUK committee.
Chair:
- Overview all activities of ASAUK
- Chair committee meetings
- Responsible for managing the elected committee
- Represent ASAUK in the wider community
- Act as spokesperson
- Build good relationship with the members and committee members
- Create links with other like minded organisations
- Prepare AGM report
Vice Chair:
- Assist and support the chairperson
- In the absence of the chairperson act as the chair
Secretary:
- Work with chair in maintaining good relations with the committee members
- Arrange and minute the committee meetings
- Be point of contact between the association and other organisations
- Work with the treasurer to ensure accounts/expenses are paid
Treasurer:
- Prepare annual budget
- Prepare annual accounts and report to AGM
- Maintain bank account with the secretary
- Find sources of funding and sponsorship for the association
Events Manager:
- Planning in advanced is key to making things work effectively and efficiently and to stick to the schedule is even better.
- timing is very important hence, have a realistic schedule
- To work well within a team and be co-operative with fellow colleagues
- Establish good links with other societies and event organizers
Mentoring co-ordinator:
- Will be responsible for a group of mentors
- They have to liaise with relevant agencies e.g. Afghan associations, schools, colleges etc regarding mentoring
- Organise trainings for the mentors
- Offer support to the mentors
- Ensure that the mentors are happy with their mentees
- Ensure that the mentees are happy with their mentors
- Organise regular meetings for mentors to meet up and discuss their experiences
- Carry out regular reviews
Web Manager:
- Make sure that the website is up and running with up to date information
- Evaluate and recommend solutions for the web development needs
- Interact with ASAUK members to improve ASA UK online services
- communicate effectively with ASAUK team to provide excellent service to the members
The above roles only describe the basic responsibilities of each committee member; they may be required to take on other responsibilities depending on the requirements of the operational requirements of the association.
